Arundhati Roy Biography

Arundhati Roy is famous for her literary works and activities such as writing for societies. She poses as drawn and unworthy of strong and stable stuff. A fight for justice by how otherwise wonderful would it be that ‘the god of Small Things’ fame (her debut novel) was treated when it won the 1997 Booker Prize and propelled into world-class recognition as a book worth reading. Birth and Early Life

She was born in Shillong on November 24, 1961, being the last born among four daughters in her family. Her father Raj Narayan Roy was a Bengali Hindu while her mother Mary Roy belonged to the Syrian Christian group. Thus Roy spent the early years in an environment where they were separated by their parents bringing up disputes between them.

Education and Early Career

She received a basic formal education in St. Joseph’s Convent School Shillong before joining the National Institute of Technology Calicut where she pursued Architecture as a course from which she later dropped out because of writing interests which outshined architectural like construction drawing by then.
